Today’s video is about the People tab. People is new in the last year and some folks say it belongs at the beginning of this whole organization process because it can do so much of the organizing work for you.
There’s really not a right or wrong time to try Facial Recognition. But I see the value as huge. In my case, I have 92,545 files in my Storage account currently, and it’s mind-boggling to me to think about how much time it would take to identify the people in all of those photos. I tried for years to do that with Tags, but I barely made a dent. At one time I think I had 7,000+ photos tagged for one of my daughters. After I started Facial Recognition, I now have over 17,000 photos under her Person. And that took me almost no time.
Ok, putting the soapbox away again. You can watch Day 9 of the Memories Made Simple Challenge here:
After you watch, here’s just a few quick things you can try today.
Homework – Day 9
- Today I just want you to watch the video, assess your situation and see if it makes sense for you to try Facial Recognition. Whether it does or doesn’t, just make sure to email me and let me know you watched the video.

As I mentioned, for my in-law’s family account, I got a one-year subscription so it could do all of the work for me and then I stopped the subscription because there aren’t new photos added frequently and I can keep up with it. For my personal account, that’s another story.
